13/02/2011 Home Match - League
Result: Painswick U8 - 3 Frampton U8 - 1
It was a very wet and windy day on a very muddy pitch but that didn't bother the kids and the match got underway.
In the first 10 minutes the teams seemed fairly even, then Painswick picked up the pace with lots of strong tackling and some lovely passing. Jacob scored the first goal, helped by a strong midfield team of Gus and Alfie.
Sam played in Defence for the first time and was absolutely outstanding. Sam and Joe did a great job of holding off Frampton's strikers.
A slip after half time meant that Frampton scored a goal but Painswick picked up again and Gus was awarded a penalty which he turned into a goal. Towards the end of the game Jacob scored his second goal with help from Will, Gus and Alfie. There were also top performances and help from Louis, Ben and Henry.
Lawrence was in goal and did an excellent job of keeping out Frampton's shots.
A Brilliant game – well done boys!
Star Player - Sam

Rodborough 3 Painswick 1
A full strength Painswick squad worked hard against both a good Rodborough team and the elements! After an unlucky deflection from a corner Painswick went 1- 0 down but never gave up. For along stretch it was very close with both sides having chances. Both goalkeepers were on fine form and Lawrence showed why he has made the keeper’s position his own. Towards the end as the shape of the team began to slip a little Rodborough grabbed two quick goals ,one blown in by the wind direct from a corner But the team put together a really fine move featuring Finlay , Gus, Alfie and finally Jacob who coolly took his chance well. Solid work at the back by Joe and Lawrence all through the match gave the rest of the team confidence and the midfield players Sam, Finlay, Will, Henry, Ben and Ben and Louis all made good contributions. But Gus at the back was outstanding, making strong clearances, tackles, and accurate passes.
Man of the match - Gus

Forest Rovers u10 3 vs Painswick FC u10 3
A Painswick side patched up due to injury were a fraction of a second away from snatching a dramatic victory in a wet and windy Cinderford.
A well organised Painswick played some stylish football early on and were rewarded with a goal at the far post from Louis following an incisive break down the right by Ollie and James. In an end to end first half there were chances for both sides, impressive saves from Damilola, and an equaliser for Rovers when a speculative long range shot crept in under the bar.
Half time 1-1
The second half started as the first ended with both sides pressing forward at every opportunity. Ben W continued to dominate at the back for Painswick, winning everything in the air and Painswick were unlucky to go behind when an attempted cross took a wicked deflection and looped over a stranded Damilola’s head into the far corner.
Undeterred Painswick pressed forward and equalised with a great run and shot from Louis soon after.
With the Painswick midfield of Ben, Ollie and Louis running the game it seemed only a matter of time before Painswick took the lead but again it was Rovers who scored first. As on many occasions this year however Painswick came back again as Louis completed his hat-trick.
A frantic last ten minutes ensued as both sides went all out for the winner, Damilola denied the Rovers centre forward one-on-one, Ben W was unlucky to be cautioned for what looked a fine tackle and emergency defender Elliot was in action at both ends, first going inches wide with a powerful long range shot on the turn and then dramatic last ditch tackle to save what looked a certain goal.
With full time looming the Rovers goal was enjoying a charmed life as Painswick threw everything into attack only to be cruelly denied their victory as the ref blew for time an instant before Ben D’s shot crossed the line for the winner.
Full time 3-3
Man of the Match: Damilola
21 Nov 10 Cam Everside U8's 0 : Painswick FC U8’s 1
A fantastic performance from the under 8’s who for the first time really clicked as a team. This was great football with a gritty, never-say -die spirit. After an early goal from natural striker Jacob the team dug in and pressed Cam all the way. Lawrence after a quiet first half in goal came outfield and tackled constantly to keep Cam pressure at bay. Will made two game winning saves in the second half and Joe was a rock in defence showing just how much he has improved to be a constistent performer. New boy Gus was outstanding at the back, in midfield and supporting the attack as was Sam who rode tackles, made passes and created chances. Alfie who has now joined us permanently, was a ball of energy as he ran from back to front popping up everywhere. Henry and Louis and new boy Ben showed just how much they have progressed recently with solid support, tackling and good running. Star Players: Whole Team
6 Nov 11 U9's Painswick FC 2 : Abbeymead South 0
Painswick had a tricky game but came out on top with quality passing football. The first goal came from the right hand side as Joey Gill battled to get the ball to Walter Lovell who with the keeper closing in on him rolled the ball accross the face of the goal to Sam McCormack who slotted in to the empty net. Abbeymead came close a few times but Charlie Murray was outstanding in goal, making great saves and good distribution of the ball. Sam Porter gave another power house performance in midfield as he won tackle after tackle. The second half carried on from the first with a close contest and chances were created but not taken. Towards the end of the game Thomas Ticehurst settled the nerves as he latched on to a through ball from Tom Conner-Webb and neatly tucked the ball under the keeper into the bottom right of the goal. Star Players: Sam Porter & Walter Lovell
6 Nov 11 U12's Painswick FC 4 : Hucclecote Knights 1
Painswick looked in control of the game from the offset and yet after a quick goal from Ben Shill who calmly slotted home they allowed the opposition to level the score. Once Painswick settled down again they got in to their rythem. Blake Peacey advanced down the right and expertly chipped the ball to the far post where Shilly thumped home his second. Before the half was out Painswick got their third. Dominic Perris made a forcefuk run into the box and laid the ball off to Shilly who very coolly finished for his hattrick. The second half was dominated by Painswick but they struggled to get any clear cut chances. Charlie Warner had a good half as he tackled well and supplied lots of crosses from the right wing. Tom Price in goal had been busier than the coach would have liked and made a spectacular finger tip save to keep the visitors out. Finally another goal as Sid Fawcett played a long through ball to Bradley Webb who emphatically thumped the ball in to the top corner. Star Players: Tom Price & Charlie Warner
23 Oct 10 U12's Abbeymead 1 vs Painswick FC 7
The first goal came early on as Charlie Warner ran down the wing, passed accross to Dominic Perris who slotted the ball through to Blake Peacey to opn the scoring. The home side managed to get an equaliser after the ball deflected in off a defender. Painswick eventually went ahead again with a deflected goal of their own from a Perris corner. The second half was a different story as Painswick flew out of the blocks. Perris took 4 smashing goals in quick succession. The last goal was another good move as Warner played the ball to Sid Fawcett who layed the ball off to Blake Peacey to fire home outside the area for his second. Alex Evans kept a very tight line at the back with a very solid performance and Painswick keep up their winning ways. Star Players: Dominic Perris & Alex Evans
16 Oct 10 U12's King Stanley 1 : Painswick FC 5
Sid Fawcett opened the scoring after a run down the wing from Dominic Perris who put the ball on a plate for Sid who duly buried it. Second goal came from a Perris corner headed home by Dan Clift. After the break King Stanley got a goal back and looked lively. However manager Mike Ryan had his team well drilled and was never going to let the lead slip. A tactical switch saw Bradley Webb on up front to hold the ball and this resulted in an immediate goal with a great run from Blake Peacey who set up Bradley to slot home. It was then full attack. Perris hit a hard low strike through the keepers hands for goal 4 and then Painswick were out of sight as Bradley took advantage of the confusion in the box and poked home his second goal through a crowd of players. Great team effort. Star Players: Sid Fawcett & Blake Peacey
9 Oct 10 Charfiled U9's 0 : Painswick FC U9's 7
Painswick faced a very different Charfield team but despite their pacey attack they could not get past a very resolute defence. Painswick have yet to concede a single goal this season. Sam McCormack was in fine form upfront scoring 4 quality goals. Goal 1 a strike from Sam outside the box, the second from a looping ball over the top by Pakka Jones and Sam placed home. The third an own goal from a corner. The fourth was flowing football as Thomas Ticehurst stroked the ball over to Joey Gill whose shot come cross found Sam poaching at the far post for a tap in. Joey then battled in the box and smashed the ball left of the keeper for a half time score of 5 nil. The second half saw Sam grab his 4th goal as we watch a long through ball and with perfect timing guided the ball past the keeper. Tom Connor-Webb scored the final goal on his debut with a blast from outside the box that he buried in the roof of the net. Alfie Bradshaw did well in goal with great distribution and Charlie Murray was superb in the first half with skill speed and strength as he swept up any sign of an attack at the back. He then put on a fine display in goal for the second half. Will Green did well in defence clearing his lines and Aarron Barnes played his usual assured role at the back. Star Players: Aaron Barnes & Charlie Murray
25 Sep 10 Abbeymead U8's 5 : Painswick FC U8's 3
A well drilled and talented Abbeymead side put Painswick under pressure from the kick-off. After 10 minutes Painswick were down 0-3 and hadn’t got out of their own half. But then a real transformation as the team settled and started to stick to their positions they battled their way back with some great tackling from the midfielders Laurence, Sam and Henry. A penalty miss near the end of the first half might have set them back but only made them more determined. New signing Jacob playing up front, ran and ran at Abbeymead and they found him very difficult to deal with. In the second half Painswick really settled and started to play some passing football and got 3 breakaway goals 2 from Jacob and one from Sam who just wouldn’t give up. Laurence went in goal and made a couple of vital saves whilst Will ‘s strong tackling helped the midfield hold steady. Joe was calm and steady at the back whilst next to him Louis and Ben kept up the pressure on the Abbeymead forwards. A loss but a great step forward as a team. Star Player: Sam.

U9's CUP TIE Painswick Dragons 6 vs GVR Chalford 0
The young dragons dominated posession from the kick off although the first goal seemed a long time coming. GVR held out well but the inevitable break through came as Sam Porter who worked tirelessly all match supplied a cross from the left and Walter Lovell struck his shot, the keeper saved and Walt had the presence of mind to follow up and tap in. Again what seemed like a long wait for goal number too was over when Sam McCormack blasted a super strike into the roof of the net. The third came this time when Sam M turned provider with a fierce cross from the right and Joey Gill poked the ball home near post. The second half was off to a quick start with a precision cross from Joey hit low and hard and Joe Hosler coolly side footed the ball from outside the box past the keeper. Joe H then proided a long range pass to the feet of Sam M who side stepped the advancing keeper and slotted home in to the empty net. U9's Rodborough Rangers 0 vs Painswick Dragons 2
Billed as a tough match, Dave Bullingham had his team well organised and they dominated the game throughout. Will Green was the first line of defence and Aaron Barnes cleared up anything that got through. In truth Rodborough had very few chances. In contrast Painswick had chance after chance, plenty of corners and it was only good goalkeeping that kept the scoreline down. Painswick opened the scoring with a cross from the left hand wing by Sam McCormack and Walter Lovell running in on goal swept the ball in. The second goal came late on in the first half as the young Dragons piled on the pressure the ball come out to Arron on the edge of the box and he fired home through a crowd of players. Walter was a constant threat as he dribbled round players, set up goals and scored 4 as well. Joey showed his tremendous pace, great ability to cross the ball and cool finishing in front of goal. However as Painswick got their passing together they started to dominate possession. Eventually the breakthrough came with a thunderous strike from Sam Porter. Painswick had plenty more chances in the second half but failed to capitalise. Aaron Barnes was a great calming influence at the back and deserved a clean sheet. Star Player: Aaron Barnes
4 Sep 10: First Game of the Season U12's, Painswick FC 8 vs Quedgley Wanderers 4
The Under 12's age group had a lot to live up to this year with their predecessors having won the title the last two years. Painswick, however, eventually made their class show in a game that had 12 goals. Painswick FC had blistering pace in attack and at times the football was flowing giving the home team much possession. Quedgley defended in numbers and early on the Dragons could not find the net. Eventually Sid Fawcett, beat one player on the edge of the box and fired home hard and low into the left hand corner. As the end of the first half approached, the scores were levelled when in their eagerness to protect the goal, three defenders crowded out the keeper and the ball deflected in giving Tom Price no chance. A quick reply came as Sid played a great pass out wide to Dominic Perris who fired in from an impossible angle to make the score 2:1 at half time. A good team talk at half time from manager Mike Ryan settled the team. Second half saw the opposition full of spirit but Painswick were now starting to totally dominate. Charlie Warner made a good run down the wing supplied a pass in to Sid who sidefooted the ball towards goal which taking a slight deflection beat the keeper. A misunderstanding at the back saw another own goal but this time Painswick fired back with menace and three quick goals. Dom drilled in from close range, Blake Peacey fired home and Dom secured his hatrick as he blasted from long range. At 6-2 Painswick eased off and the away team managed to get two quick goals giving them some hope. However, they only managed to stir the Dragons into all out attack and Dom fired an immediate reply as he ran half the pitch on a solo effort finishing with a good goal and his 4th. The last goal came from a corner taken by quick footed Bradley Webb and turned in effortlessly by Ben Shill. Great start to the season. Star Players: Dominic Perris & Sid Fawcett
